LESLIE COUNTY TECHNOLOGY DEPARTMENT

ABOUT US

On behalf of the Leslie County Public School’s Information Technology Team, it is my pleasure to share with you information on our technology department.  Our team, which consists of 2 district professionals, (1 CIO and 1 LAN Technician), in direct coordination with each School Technology Coordinator, works diligently to improve district-wide information technology in areas such as academic computing, administrative computing, enterprise systems, networking, policy and planning, security, telecommunications, and user support.

Main Data Technology Center:   13 District wiring rooms located throughout our school facilities.   These data rooms contain the necessary equipment to connect our educational technology devices.                             

Computer, Tablet, and Interactive TVs: Support of 3700 instructional devices and 120 Interactive TVs utilized by students, staff, and administration.   Please note that our district has around 1000 personally owned devices connected.

Network Switching Devices: 51 network switches provide 2448 data ports to connect our district devices. (computers, copiers, interactive TVs, tablets, etc.) 

Enterprise Wireless:  200+ wireless access points across the district which are making our network more accessible to students and staff.  

Voice Over Internet Protocol – (VoIP) and Legacy Systems: Approximately 220 telephones consist of Polycom hardware and a mixture of older legacy hardware. 

District File and Application Servers with Storage Area Network (SAN):  10 District Network Servers that provide access to files, printers, instructional applications, and management services.

Internet Filtering Appliance and Radius Security:  These devices assist us in filtering content that may be unsuitable for viewing and assisting in our compliance with CIPA “Children’s Internet Protection Act”.    

Technology Helpdesk Ticket System: Over the course of the past 2 years, the district team has addressed 348 helpdesk tickets and 1000+ phone calls, emails, and verbal requests for support issues

Instructional Applications: Our team collaborates with instructional administrators to implement and support instructional applications (Aleks, Clever, BrainPop, Google Classroom, Office 365, Map, HMH Ed, McGraw Hill, TCI, Think Central, my HRW, NearPod, Mastery Prep, Delta Math, Riverside DataManager) ~20,000 different accounts

 Administrative Applications: Our team collaborates with administrators to implement and support administrative programs, (Infinite Campus, Munis, Food Service, 2 x CCTV Security Software, Access Control, HVAC) ~2000 different accounts

 CCTV (Security): 2 separate IP-based camera systems and software were selected as part of an initiative to improve our existing security measures. Approximately 250 cameras are currently installed within the district.

Vape sensors: 24 sensors in the restrooms that can detect vape material 

 

In short, we look forward to contributing further to this district as it continues to grow in enrollment and technology expectations.
